EAST CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – The East Canton daycare provider who faced charges in the death of a baby boy in her care will go to prison for five years following sentencing on Tuesday.
46-year-old Melanie DiMarzio had just entered guilty pleas to involuntary manslaughter and child endangering charges in the death of seven-month-old Grant Simmons back in March.
The village determined DiMarzio was running an unlicensed daycare facility out of her home.
The child was put down for a nap on a bed rather than in a crib and suffocated, according to the prosecution.
