The FBI was involved in a shooting that left a person dead in Dixmoor, Illinois, on Wednesday morning.
Dixmoor police confirmed the FBI was in the area of 145th Street and Cooper Avenue, serving a federal warrant.
The FBI said an agent was involved in a shooting while agents were there, and one person was killed. No FBI personnel were injured, the agency said.
It was not certain whether the person who was shot was the recipient of the federal warrant.
One woman who lives on the block where the shooting occurred said she and her husband woke up to two flash bangs around 6 a.m., and said she could hear FBI agents making their announcements and banging on the door of the house where they were serving the warrant.
She said an hour passed after that until she heard about six shots fired. After that, she said she saw FBI agents taking someone out of the house, and that person was put on a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance.
Family members were also seen standing around.
The neighbor said she also saw six people being taken outside. She said those six people were put in handcuffs initially, but those handcuffs were later taken off.
The Cook County Sheriff is also assisting with the investigation.
As of 10 a.m., an armored vehicle remained in front of the house where everything happened.
This is the second deadly shooting involving the FBI in the Chicago area this week. This pas Monday, Oscar D. Isaya-Corrales, 27, was shot and killed during a confrontation with an FBI agent in the 1700 block of South Union Avenue under the Dan Ryan Expressway in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood.
The FBI said the agent was on his way home in a Bureau-issued car when he spotted the man firing at least two shots into a group of innocent people. They said the agent, in an attempt to stop the ongoing threat, engaged with the man, who was then shot and later died.
